The
building, carefully restored and adapted to 21st century uses by Michael,
Barbara and a couple friends,
once housed Harrell's, a sporting goods store. Abandoned 20 years ago after
a fire, the century-old building has been resurrected as a contemporary
gallery.
The loft apartment on the second floor retains the hardwood floor once
used by a dance studio. When you visit the Gallery, be sure to find Michael (he'll be the one
with a hammer, level, power drill, screws, and any assorted drill bits
in his hands and pockets), and ask him to tell you about
the renovation. Rest assured, he'll give you a little smile, and tell you
what you'd like to know.
