Dr. Bill Sabino was born in New York City where he grew to appreciate many art forms. The ability to translate art appreciation into practical terms began at an early age when he began to draw. His first grade teacher recognized his artistic potential and recommended he attend an art school. By the time he was nine years old he had created his first oil painting and for three years attended Pratt Institutes’ youth art program. Here he learned drawing, composition and the techniques of art. Upon high school graduation and a stint in the Marine Corps he entered Pratt Institutes’ Fine Arts Program. In the mid 1960’s he exhibit his art in New Your City and became president of the Pan American Art Club. Later family responsibilities caused him to take a hiatus from his involvement in the art world and it was not until the late 1990’s that he began again painting in oil and water mediums. Since that time he has not only been involved in expanding his own art career but has assisted as Treasurer and Vice-president of the Tidewaters Artists’ Association. Further he has chaired or assisted in many art openings helping others to achieve their goals. His art has been displayed in a variety of juried shows, including miniature and portfolio shows. Presently his work is in display at galleries in Richmond, the Tidewater areas of Virginia and Palm Beach. Florida.
Artist Statement: The most important thing to me, because of the kind of artist I am, is to see life creatively, the way it appears though my eyes. I use this visual experience to express my artistic talent. First I look for line, which shapes and gives depth to my work. Next is light, that forms contrast and brings life to the shapes. Last is color that evokes mood and harmony to an image. My art, at its best, is well composed, full of feeling and brings pleasure to the viewer.
