Artist Statement
Believers
in the right brain – left brain dichotomy might find me to be
an enigma. After a thirty five-year career in the business & financial
world I have finally embarked upon career number two as a full-time
studio artist. My passion for art kindled at a young age, but I managed
to combine art in business activities throughout a career using my
commercial art training and residential design concepts. Immediately
upon retiring as a CFO in 1998, I turned my full attention to clay.
I’ve since “rediscovered my personal self” where
my heart & art come together with astounding results. I’ve
transitioned beyond mere mechanics in the years since beginning to
produce one of a kind pieces. Color is a constant in my work, but does
not limit the style. If there is a common denominator among my portfolio
it is an on going exploration of new shapes and themes. I find my work
is really a romance with the essence of a timeless medium. By using
the earth's essential elements for self-expression I have created a
harmony for my soul and heart.
