Renee Burford is a native of Lynchburg, VA. As a child, she would see working artists through the windows of Clifton Studios, where artists produced artwork for the reproduction market. After she graduated from high school, she attended classes at Central Virginia Community College for two years where she majored in commercial art. She joined Clifton Studios, but after a year, the work became too repetitious for Renee and she began to paint her own originals. Many of her paintings were taken to the furniture market in the following years and were brought back to Clifton Studios for reproduction.
Since moving to Virginia Beach, she has worked closely with designers and decorators. In 1998, she painted murals and canvases for a designer who won the Best Model Homes in Virginia Beach, displaying Renee’s work exclusively in the home. Her artwork was in an award winning home in the recent Chesapeake Homerama.
Renee enjoys painting any size, subject, or substrate. From wall-sized individual paintings to themed murals throughout the home, she does it all! Her love of painting and well honed skills can translate to a truly custom commission for residential and commercial decors. She is at ease when applying her splendid color sense to controlled brush strokes in realistic scenes or the broad strokes of her abstract paintings. She shares her home in Virginia Beach with her Golden Retriever.
